Clip of Daphne and Conrad banner discussion!

Image
Hey guys! I’m back with another short post, but I found a new clip of Daphne and seemingly an extra clip of Conrad, so I thought I’d share my findings! As usual, all videos can either be found here or on the World Chorus playlist on YouTube! I also have a random discussion about Disneyland Paris’s Small World banners, since I find their artistic direction fascinating. I slowed down the video so audio warning for it being a little loud and distorted, but it was designed to show the white sleeve which would likely belong to Conrad, as well as a subtle pattern of movement I spotted from afar of Daphne dancing, it looks as if she's striking a pose, though of course the clip is old and it isn't easy to see. Clip of Daphne and Conrad: As for the banners, I want to just discuss the way the queue has changed over the years, and the same can be seen in the decor section of the archive when it comes to the outside of World Chorus. Specifically, it’s fun to see how they change with the ...

A critique of a 20-year-old paper by Laudan Nooshin (Circumnavigation with a Difference? Music, Representation and the Disney Experience: It’s A Small, Small World)

Image
Hey guys! This is a slightly different type of post to usual, but a while ago I stumbled on an academic paper called ‘Circumnavigation with a Difference? Music, Representation and the Disney Experience: It’s A Small, Small World’, and as an it’s a small world enthusiast, I wanted to look into the paper and what it might be talking about. However, I think Nooshin fundamentally misses the purpose for which the ride is created. Whilst I can’t claim to be an authority on Orientalism or very well versed in music theory, I want to create a counter-argument for Nooshin’s claim based on the message that the Disneyland Paris version of it’s a small world and the park as a whole aims to share, and reveal the idea that the ride’s simplicity of nature is what makes it so beautiful, alongside how the park humanises the ‘other’ and encourages us to explore perspectives beyond our own. This is neither an essay (mostly) nor an attack, merely just someone sharing their thoughts. And a fun fact, this pa...

A recovered clip of the 3 unknown World Chorus kids!

Image
Only a small update today, but I managed to go through my emails and dig up a clip of the 3 unknown kids in full, complete with the audio! Now we haven’t lost anything at all, apart from their canonical designs, but you already know my versions hehe. A small hypothesis to back up my theory of these 3 being inside the blue/white building near the Eiffel Tower is that they were in a larger window, same with the other characters who were recorded (Julia inside the windmill, the choir inside the large Greek temple window), so that adds some credibility to my theorycrafting I did the other time. On top of that, the recording also shows some text banners, but they’re very blurry and hard to read, but they aren’t exactly clear, due to the recording’s age. They don’t appear in other videos though, so that’s odd, they’re either strings of text or one word, as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/L68HnQOyqVs?si=PszBTDe5OgW3BZTN   If anyone has anything to give context as to what these ...

How to design a World Chorus OC! (Original Character!)

Image
So, if you’re reading this, it’s likely you want to learn how to draw an original character inspired by those from World Chorus! Well, I’ve created quite a few in my time, so here’s some advice I’d give to those of you who want to make your own little members of this choir and band! Preliminary steps Since I consider World Chorus a big choir and band conducted by the conductor, or as I’ve named him, Jules, I try to assign every character I create an instrument or some sort of function within the overall group. It’s also important to consider the nationality and clothing style of each of your characters, as fundamentally World Chorus is tied to it’s a small world, which celebrates diversity. So, here’s some of my original characters and how I designed them! Some art of Jules, along with some characters I’ve designed for his band, based on the silhouettes that appeared around him and the choir outfits. It’s important to consider a diverse range of races and instruments for your character...
