Happy 33rd Anniversary World Chorus (and happy birthday Jules!)
It’s the 12th of April, which means it’s the 33rd anniversary of Disneyland Paris’s opening, which means it’s the 33rd anniversary of their version of ‘it’s a small world’, which means it’s the 33rd anniversary of WORLD CHORUS!!!
Despite it not being around anymore, I wanted to commemorate this anniversary especially, since it also marks 5 years of me drawing Jules, and the beginning of me sourcing information and pictures for the archive, which makes it a very special anniversary for me.
To celebrate, I’ve put together 2 things! One is an artist spotlight, commemorating the beautiful art I’ve received of Jules, and another is a video I’ve made showcasing my art improvement over the past 5 years. I wish I could more easily convey how much Jules means to me, but I hope this method suffices, as well as a small tribute I’ve written below.
Jules and his friends have helped me through so many difficult days, hard times, painful nights, and scary moments. Just thinking of them during exams calmed me down, or drawing them got me through many anxiety attacks. Drawing him was the very first thing I did on my Instagram, in July 2021. Making a video on the pavilion and some OCs allowed me to get my start on YouTube in 2023. On tumblr I write about him. On discord we talk about him. On flat.io I make music inspired by him. On redbubble people purchase stickers of him. On artfight I receive gifts of him. And on the World Chorus Archive, I celebrate him.
I celebrate 19 years of operation, and the impact that two of those years had on a little girl from 2008-2010. I celebrate a conductor and his friends bridging the gap between countries and culture through music and telecommunications. I celebrate the bonds I share with others because of him. But most of all, I celebrate my dearest memories, and how at night I dream of meeting him again, or seeing him, or going on adventures with him. First and foremost on this archive, I celebrate Jules.
So, happy birthday Jules. I hope it’s a lovely one, and you spend it with Zuri, Rouge and everyone else, whether an OC or a canon character. I hope you know that hundreds of people are reading this archive, and love it. And wherever you are, I’m thinking of you. I hope one day all our questions will be answered about you, but you’re always right here in my heart, where you will stay forever.
Thank you for lighting up my life when I was four and enchanting me, and for following me in lingering memories for all the years after, when I was six and your attraction closed. Thank you for helping me connect with others through art when I am too shy and scared to approach them otherwise. Thank you for bringing me a little fame and endless opportunities, and helping me realize I can do things I never even dreamed of, like customising toys or taking you to Disneyland in 2022.
Thank you to Chris Bailey, Barry Johnson Esq, Gabrielle at Disneyland Paris’s Guest Correspondence and everyone else who has complimented me and been so kind to me in my quest for further information, no matter how big or small your contribution may have been, it means everything. Your words send ripples further than you could ever know, and help my self-esteem and artistic growth in many, many ways.
And now, some art spotlights!
Many of these are on a variety of platforms, but most are Instagram. Some are on ArtFight, and others Discord. Thank you all for your beautiful arts, I wanted to celebrate them this way, it felt fitting as World Chorus has always been about collaboration and coming together. You’ve all been so kind to lend me your talents and time to make me such beautiful art pieces. No matter our differences or disputes or distance, I want to put all that aside for just today. Let’s celebrate this little conductor that brought us together :)
And finally, here’s my video celebrating him, in my own special way!
Music- I promised you from Arcane
Thank you all once more for celebrating Jules’s birthday with me. It means so much every single day, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished. Though I couldn’t do it without any of you, I do think I should be allowed to pat myself on the back for my efforts and what I have created, and I couldn’t be happier.
(This is a little project sekai edit I did whilst waiting for midnight to roll around hehe)
